Pattern information

The socks are knitted in the round on double

pointed needles or on a circular needles using the magic loop technique.

Cables are knitted every 8th round.

Pattern (divisible by 7 sts)

1. – 7. rnd: *purl1, knit 6*, repeat from * to * around.

8. rnd: *purl 1, twist 6*, repeat from * to * around.

Twist 6 sts: Place 3 sts on the cable needle in front of the work, knit 3 knit sts, knit the 3 sts on the cable needle knitwise.

Leg

Cast on 70 (77) 84 sts and divide on 4 double pointed needles.

Knit in the round in pattern. Start with the 4th rnd of the pattern. Knit until the leg measures approx.4.7 (5.1) 5.5 inches (12 (13) 14 cm). Finish with the 3. rnd of the pattern. Fasten off.

Divide for heel and instep

The 1st and 4th needles are gathered on 1 double pointed needle = 34 (34) 41 sts for the heel, the 2nd and 3rd needles are placed on 2 double pointed needles = 36

(43) 43 sts for the instep (first and last s is a purl stitch).

Heel flap

Knit stockinette stitch back and forth, over the 34 (34) 41 sts of the heel as you knit 2

stitches together knitwise in each cable on the 1st row.

Knit 18 (20) 22 rows of stockinette stitch. Finish with a row of purl stitches.

Note: place a marker in the middle of the heel after 14 (14) 17 sts. From here you measure the foot before decreasing for the toe.

Work the heel decreases like this:

1. row (right side): knit until you have 8 (8) 9 sts left, work 2 sts together through the

back loops, knit 1, turn.

2. row (wrong side): knit until you have 8 (8) 9 sts, purl 2 sts together, purl 1, turn.

3. row (right side): knit until you have 7 (7) 8 sts left, work 2 stitches together through

the back loops, knit 1, turn.

4. row (wrong side): knit until you have 7 (7) 8 sts left, purl 2 sts together, purl 1, turn.

Continue knitting 1 s less prior to the decrease until all sts on the needle have been knitted.

On the next rnd pick up/knit up 14 (13) 14 sts on each side of the heel.

Divide the heel sts on 2 double pointed needles.

Gusset

Knit in the round in stockinette stitch under the foot and work the pattern over the instep (upper part of the foot).

Place a marker on each side at the transition between the heel and instep (upper part of the foot).

Decrease for the gusset like this:

Knit until you reach 2 sts prior to the marker, work 2 sts together knitwise, knit the sts of the instep according to the pattern until you reach the other marker, work 2 sts together through the back loops, knit the rest of the rnd.

Knit 1 rnd.

Decrease every 2nd rnd until you have

29 (31) 33 sts of stockinette stitch.

Foot

Knit straight up until your work measures approx. 7.5 (8.1) 8.7 inches (19 (20,5) 22

cm) from the marker on the heel = 2 (2.2) 2.4 inches (5 (5,5) 6 cm) to toe. Finish with

the 3rd rnd of the pattern.

Toe

Knitted in stockinette stitch.

1. rnd: work 2 sts together knitwise in each cable = 31 (37) 37 sts,on the instep and

29 (31) 33 sts over the foot = 60 (68) 70 sts.

For sizes 36-37 and 40-41 make 1 decrease on each side of the instep = 56 (68) 68 sts.

Place a marker on each side with 28 (34) 34 sts on each side of the foot and the instep.

Divide on 4 needles: 14 (17) 17 sts on each needle.
