3 (3) 4 skeins of 50 g Highland Wool color 18

2 skeins of 25 g Super Kid Silk color 10 for the ruffle

32” Circular needles US 6 (4 mm)

Elastic for the waist band.

Sizes:

S/M (M/L) L/XL

Measurements:

Width of half the waist: 13 ¾ (14 ½) 15 ¼ in.

Total Length: 21 ½ (22) 22 ½ in.

(55 (56) 57 cm)

Gauge:

20 sts x 30 rnds = 4” x 4”

Pattern information:

The skirt is knit from the top down.

The ruffle is worked last.

Skirt

Waist

CO 140 (148) 156 sts with Highland Wool on the circular needle. Join in the round and place a marker to indicate the beginning of the rnd. Work in stockinette for 1”. Purl 1 rnd which will be used as the fold row for the waist band. Work in stockinette for 1”.

On the next rnd, increase evenly by 20 sts by lifting the loop between stitches with left needle and knitting into the back of loop (M1) = 160 (168) 176 sts.

Continue working in stockinette until the piece measures 17 ¾ (18) 18 ½ in (45 (46) 47 cm) from the fold row.

End with 1 rnd of purl.

Bind off in purl.

Ruffle

Knit with 1 strand of Super Kid Silk.

Pick up 1 st in every stitch of the purl edge of the skirt.

Knit in the round in stockinette

Rnd 1: k all sts through the back loop to twist.

Rnd 2: *k3, YO* repeat to the end of the rnd.

Rnd 3: k all sts, work the YO through the back loop to twist.

Rnd 4: *k3, YO* repeat to the end of the rnd.

Rnd 5: k all sts, work the YO through the back loop to twist.

Rnd 6: *k3, YO* repeat to the end of the rnd.

Rnd 7: k all sts, work the YO through the back loop to twist.

Rnd 8: *k3, YO* repeat to the end of the rnd.

Rnd 9: k all sts, work the YO through the back loop to twist.

Continue in stockinette, but without increasing until the ruffle measures 4 in.

Bind off in rib pattern *k1, p1*
