Bridge
The bridge part of the socks is made using the pattern represented in the chart above. For the bridge section we will use white and bordeaux. We will change colors at the end of the round by making a slip stitch with the next color.
But first, we need to make 3 rows of single crochet:
Round 1
Use white.
Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st in first sc.
Round 2-3
Repeat round 1.
Round 4
Change to bordeaux. Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, [ch 1, skip 1 st, 1 sc in next st]. Repeat the section between [ ] to the end of the round. Finish the round with ch 1, skip the last st and join with the first sc.
Round 5
Change to white. Ch 2, skip first sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 space [ch 1, skip next sc, 1 sc in next ch 1space]. Repeat the section between [ ] to the end of the round. Sl st in first ch.
Round 6
Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in each st around.
Round 7
Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, [ch 1, skip 1, 1 sc in next]. Repeat the section between [ ] to the end of the round. Finish the round with ch 1, skip the last st and join with the first sc.
Round 8
Change to bordeaux. Ch 2, skip first sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 space [ch 1, skip next sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 space]. Repeat the section between [ ] to the end of the round. Sl st in first ch.
Round 9
Sl st to the first ch 1 space, ch 3, 1 dc in the same space, 1 v st in the next ch 1 space and in each ch 1 space to the end of the round. Join with a sl st using red in the 3rd st of the starting ch.
Round 10
Change to white. Start the round between the first 2 dc. Ch 3, 1 dc in the same space, 1 v st in the middle of each v st of the previous round. Join with a sl st using white in 3rd st of the starting chain.
Round 11
Change to bordeaux. Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in each st around. Join with a sl st in first sc.
Round 12
Ch 2, skip first sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 space. [Ch 1, skip next sc, 1 sc in next ch 1 space], repeat the section between [ ] to the end of the round. Sl st in first ch.
Rounds 4-12 are the 9 rounds that have to be repeated for the entire sock, except the heel and the cuff at the end.
After each set of 9 rows you will reverse the colors. So for the next set of 9 rounds you will start with white instead of bordeaux.
Repeat rounds 4-12 until you have in total for the bridge (counting also the 3 rounds at the beginning):
● EU 37 (US 6.5 – 7) = 29 rounds
● EU 38 (US 7.5 – 8) = 32 rounds
● EU 39 (US 8.5 – 9) = 35 rounds
● EU 40 (US 7.5 – 8) = 36 rounds
After these rounds, you need to make a round in single crochet.
Heel
This part is made in single crochet stitches using blac k (or the same color as for the toe).
We will turn after each row.
But first, we have to mark the sts in which we will work the next part of the heel.
After finishing the bridge, cut the yarn. Count 13 sts to the right and put a stitch marker in the
13th st. Then starting with this st count 26 sts to the left and put a stitch marker into the last st.
These 26 sts are the sts in which we will work the heel.
Row 1
Insert the yarn into the right marked stitch. Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in the next 25 sts.
Repeat row 1, 11 more times (12 rows in total) or until your feet is completely covered from toe to heel.
Now it’s time to shape the heel part to fit around the foot.
Cut the yarn and prepare 2 stitch markers again.
Put a marker in 9th st from the left, skip 9 sts, put a marker in the next st. You will have 8 sts left
on the right and 9 sts left on the left.
Row 13
Join the yarn in the right marked st.
Ch 1, 1 sc in the same st, 1 sc in the next 7 sts, sl 2 sts and turn.
Row 14
Skip the first 2 sl sts, 1 sc in the next 8 sts, sl st in the next 2 and turn.
Repeat row 14 until you don’t have any sts left or 9 more times (11 rows).
And with this the heel part is done. Cut the yarn.
Upper part
Before starting the bridge pattern, you need to make one round of single crochets.
You can make this round using the same yarn as for the bridge pattern.
Next, you need to continue the pattern from where you left off on the bridge part and keep
repeating the same set of 9 rounds until the sock is as high as you want.
I made 18 rounds in total for the upper part, but feel free to make as many rounds as you wish.
At the end we will add a cuff worked in scblo using the black yarn.
Cuff
Row 1:
Chain 10 + 1, 1 sc in each of the 10 sts of the chain, sl st in next 2 sts of the sweater bottom and
turn.
Row 2:
1 scblo in each of the 10 sts, ch 1 and turn.
Row 3:
1 scblo in each of the 10
th sts, sl st in the next 2 sts of the bottom of the sock and turn.
Repeat rows 2 and 3 until you finish the entire circumference of the upper part of the sock.
At the end join the ends of the ribbed band with sl sts.
Repeat the same pattern for the second sock and you are done!
